Bailey turned the "BiG 12" this year! She had an unexpected SuRPRiSe the night before her birthday when @ about 9pm, as she was falling asleep, her Aunt Steph (from Oregon) walked into her bedroom & surprised her. Both her and Madi were 'shocked!' but definitely SO EXCITED!!! On Friday morning we sang to her, ate breakfast and opened presents. Then as soon as the kids got off to school, I began working to get the house & everything ready for the birthday party later that day.
For Bailey's 12 yr old birthday, I decided that we'd better have a friend's party, seeing it's the BiG 12 & it's been awhile. So, we choose to have a Late Night SLUMBER PARTY. We asked them to come in their jammies and to make sure to bring their slippers & sleeping bags. But before the party really started we began the night off with pizza and breadsticks. Some of the girls that Bailey invited are in the school's play, and wouldn't be coming until a bit later. After dinner I had the girls break into 2 groups for a Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt. None of the girls had gone on one before, so after sending them off, Stephanie & I thought we had better go and help them out for the first few houses. We planned on returning after 2 or 3 homes, but we were having as much fun as the girls were. We had forgotten other girls would be showing up. So by the time we had gotten back to our house the other girls had shown up, let themselves in, and started eating dinner.
The first team to get back with all the items had been there a few minutes when Madi and my team arrived. We checked Stephanie & Bailey's group bag for all 10 birthday items, but as we checked, their wrapping paper wasn't "birthday wrapping paper" so onto the 2nd team...my team- we KNEW we had ALL 10 birthday items on the list, so we began pulling them out of our bag, until...we couldn't find the (pink) birthday candle we knew we had, but we did find a hole at the bottom of our Kohler's bag. So, neither team 'WON' the prize.
The party was centered around SLUMBER PARTY's and ALL the FUN things you do at Slumber parties. The girls were ready to get the PARTY STARTED!
Our first game was a FASHION RUNWAY SHOW...we lined up our sleeping bags on the ground and had them walk the sleeping bag CATWALK- we gave out prizes for the BEST OVERALL JAMMIES look & the BEST CATWALK dance. Here's Madi walkin' the catwalk-
Bailey, Allie and Liz taking a group walk down the runway.
Our next game was the "Slipper Grab." We had the girls toss their slippers in the middle of the circle in a pile. Then when I said "GO!" they'd grab their slippers, and put them on. We did that a few times, then we had them toss their slippers in the pile then grab someone else's slippers and put them on. They really had FUN-
Our next game...you guessed it, "SLeePiNG BaG RaCeS!" As you can see they LOVED this game as well. Believe me, some "ELBOWS" were being thrown, some fallin' into the each other. As the girls rose on the leader board, the nastier it got- but FUN!
YeaH!!! for "MuSiCcaL SleePinG BaGS!" I think THIS game was the HiT of the night- It got a little vicious at times...these girls are competitive! Steph and I watched from AFAR, and I mean AFAR-
