So over Spring Break Madi wanted to repaint her room as a Personal Progress Project

a text from Bailey, who is starting to understand & learn a little more of her diabetes....

With ALL Bailey has gone through, and is still going through, her Senior Year of HS, a NEW Chapter in her story, missing a week of school, etc she still pulled off GREAT GRADES for her 3rd term of her Senior year...

A shocking new reality photo of what a person with Type One Diabetes will have to stick themselves with needles in a month- for shots.

Soooo, after another day of Classic Skating with her friends, Madi called me & asked for me to come pick her up... she had fallen and twisted her ankle, but didn't think it was broken- and with Bailey's 5 day stint in the hospital we thought that if it wasn't broken, not much we could do about it other than taking it easy, putting it up, icing it etc. 

BUT Madi did take advantage of it when she could...as shown above

So little did we know, it was really sprained & now after talking with Dr. Jones, he said she probably pulled 3 ligaments in the top & side of her foot

Not only did Madi go to Classic Skating again after spraining her ankle but she went shopping too- probably NOT the BEST thing for a sprained ankle...

So, after Bailey was diagnosed we had those that also were living with Type One Diabetes talk to us about their experiences. There happens to be 2 different families with Type One that Mike works with at Candlelight Homes- Jay Rich's daughter Addi was diagnosed about 1 1/2 years ago, and Ashley, a wife of a Superintendent, Austin has had diabetes since she was younger. Austin's wife, Ashley sent Bailey a note & this really cute Alex & Ani bracelet that is known for Type One. It was SO SWEET and thoughtful. The note was personable & thoughtful, telling Bailey that she has lived with this for years, had babies & as long as you manage it you can do whatever you want & live a normal life. 

It was SO KIND & THOUGHTFUL!!!   

and come to find out....it was a lot worse than we thought!

Living out on his own, we don't hear from or see Tanner much, so when he posts something I snap it-

So the first time after coming home from the hospital, we went to get all of Bailey's prescriptions at Ridley's Pharmacy and it was a SHOCK!!!! The total for our bill for a ONE MONTH SUPPLY of insulin, needles, test strips etc. it was $1700!!! The next month because we had paid our Insurance deductible & had met it, we would pay $100 for the month of supplies. But that first trip to the pharmacy & figuring out this whole thing was a REAL SHOCKER!!! 

But just LOOK at this BEAUTIFUL girl!!!! So BLESSED & GRATEFUL that it wasn't worse 

& that Type One Diabetes is a MANAGEABLE disease- 

Since having her picture taken back in August of 2015 for her Senior pictures, life has changed for this girl, so we decided to get NEW Senior pictures- these are ABSOLUTELY Beautiful!

Bailey's Senior Quilt was dropped off after being hemmed-

and look who MOVED back in...(supposedly for just the Summer!)

Our neighbors, the Salter's were doing a remodel on their home & at that same time, Alpine City needed to do some underground sewer improvements, so there was a lot of construction trucks driving by our home & soon we found some problems with that....  

It started with just a few small branches...but then a few bigger branches...an then another & another-

I contacted Alpine City & they came out & pruned the trees to look a little better- I just HOPE they'll look better come Spring!

UGH!!!

Bailey & I put together her Graduation Announcements- they turned out PERFECT!!!
