Lone Peak @ Lehi- 4/06 "Under the Lights"

With this game being at Lehi, their soccer team plays on their football field that has lights. So they decided to change things up a bit, time wise and they had the JV game first & it started at 5 pm & then the Varsity team played at 7 pm under the lights on Friday, April 6th 2012. Mike, Bailey & I (Madi stayed home, she wasn't feeling well.) were late (like a lot of other families on the team) however, thinking it didn't start until 5:30 so we missed all 3 goals. It was Lehi 2 to LP 1,  when we got there at 5:30, and that's how it stayed for the rest of the game. Tanner played in the JV game on and off until the last 15 minutes of game time, then he was asked to go warm up with the Varsity team when they arrived. The JV game ended with Lehi 2 to LP 1, and their first loss in a number of YEARS! Last year when Tanner was on the JV team they had a WiNNiNG season, and I believe the year before that too. It was really sad! Both of Lehi's teams were very tough last night!

After the JV game got over, more & more people started showing up for the Varsity game. As everyone had been sitting & was asked to sit on the one side nearest to the school, that was all about to change. It was Lehi 1 to LP 0  then during the first 10-15 minutes of the first half of the Varsity game anytime any of us LP fans screamed or yelled for our team, the Lehi fans yelled to us, "GO SIT ON YOUR OWN SIDE!" So after hearing that a few times, I told everyone sitting near us (LP families) that we were headed to the other side. I couldn't, and CAN'T sit by the opposing side, I'm a better person, if I don't! So Bailey, Mike & I got up and headed over to the other side where more & more of our crowd/fans were going to sit. During this move we got a PK shot and made it, so now it was 1 to 1. That is how the first half ended, and then we went into the second half with both teams making adjustments & NO ONE scoring, so we then went into OT. And within the first maybe 5 minutes we got another PK shot when our Senior goalie, Kaden Killpack walked the length of the field, from one goal box to the top of the other & took the shot, placed it in the back of the net for the WIN in OT!!! The boys on the bench, the students in the stands all rushed out onto the field, after just taking down Lehi (8-0-0 record) the #1 team in Utah County, LP being #2. Now boy, do we have a TARGET on our backs....

It was an *UNBELIEVABLE* game, not knowing which way it would go the whole night, especially with the ref's we had. Which was a story in of itself. Just after the game started, the center ref all of sudden stopped the game and was bent over. We all thought he maybe had thrown up. But then he called for the sideline ref's to come in they spoke for maybe 4-5 minutes, switched the center ref to be a line ref, and that line ref to be center ref. You could see the first center ref had pulled his leg muscle somewhere and was hobbling the rest of the night & looked to be in pain. Poor guy- (ugh! the ref's calls were bad BOTH ways!)
Lone Peak Wins 2 to Lehi 1 in OT
Lone Peak JV Losses 1 to Lehi 2
