This just happened to be Matt's first game he coached @ LP. Lone Peak vs. Jordan 4/5/11. Here he has the team warming up before the game began. (Tanner's #31)
Here Coach Stephens (Varsity coach) and Uncle Matt, I mean Coach Paskett "coaching" the boys.
Coach "P", giving the Pep talk just before the game. It started out a little warm with the temp around 60 degrees, but within minutes it turned to be a very, VERY windy night, with a few sprinkles. When I say windy, it was so windy that the Jordan goalie was trying to hold the goal posts in place, even with 45 lbs weights on it. The 2 porta potties that were over by the Tennis courts, were tipped back and leaning against the fences. The game was finally over and we WON 2 to 0.
Friday, April 8th we played American Fork aka cousins! It was originally supposed to be played at LP, but with snow on our grass @ the LP field they switched to AF's field. When we arrived it was snowing and snowing hard, not sticking much but VERY WET! Cousin Logan on the AF Varsity team was unable to play due to a twisted ankle from playing b-ball earlier in the week against other cousins. So we were still able to cheer for LP. The snow was seriously coming down. We ran into parents of 3 other boys that played for AF, that Tanner had played with when he was younger. It was fun to see how these boys have grown. LP Varsity won 2 to 0. And just moments before the JV team took the field for their game...
the SUN came out & JV played a good, tough game. It was still bitterly COLD, but it wasn't SNOWING.
Cousin Jessie, Logan, came from the AF side to our side, and G&G Paskett came to watch after their day at the temple, and Rachel & Todd came after work to *CHEER* for us. Jessie ended up cheering for BOTH teams, however Logan wouldn't go against his AF JV team, but we had a few banters, back an forth. We wished we could've seen Logan play this game, but it was a really GOOD game for Lone Peak!
Here is Matt, Coach "P" and a few of the other coaches giving our boys a good ol' pep talk. It was 0 to 0 at halftime, but the boys came out in the second half and we WON AF 3 to 0.
I do have to mention the play of the game when a "SiCK", & Tricky Assist from Tanner to Kofi Johnson, where he just slammed it in the net! It was one everyone was talking about it after the game. Tanner even said that when the game was over, the AF coach came over and asked "WHO was that, that gave the assist to score against us?" Yes, it was my cute son, TANNER! Yeah!!!!
